Smaraksh detects traffic signs from your phone's camera while you drive. This policy explains exactly what the app does with your information. The short version: the camera feed and your location never leave your phone. The only personal information that reaches our servers is the account you sign in with, plus crash reports.

What stays entirely on your device
These are processed on your phone and are never uploaded, transmitted, or stored by us.
Camera images and video
Sign detection runs locally using a machine-learning model bundled inside the app. Each camera frame is copied into memory, analysed on-device, and discarded immediately after detection — the app has no feature to save, export, or share camera frames, and none are written to your photo library, to app storage, or anywhere else. No photo, video, or camera frame is ever uploaded to us or to any third party.
Location
Smaraksh uses your device's approximate/precise location for one purpose: showing your current speed in the driving display. It is not attached to detection history, not written to any file, and not transmitted anywhere — the value is held only in memory while the camera screen is open and is discarded when you leave it. We do not access your location when the app is closed or in the background.
Your settings and detection history
Detection preferences, alert settings, your recent-detections list, and your acknowledgement of the safety notice are stored in your phone's local app storage. Uninstalling Smaraksh removes all of it.

We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and Smaraksh contains no advertising and no advertising identifier.
How your information is protected
All network communication between Smaraksh and our servers uses HTTPS encryption. The app is configured to refuse unencrypted connections outright. Account authentication is handled by Google's Firebase Authentication service rather than by storing passwords ourselves.
Third-party services
Smaraksh relies on the following services, each governed by Google's own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy:
- Firebase Authentication and Google Sign-In — account creation and login
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash and stability reporting
- Google Fonts — the app downloads its "Inter" typeface from Google's font service on first launch
How long we keep your information
Account information is retained for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, it is removed as described on our account deletion page. Crash reports are retained by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days and are not linked to your name or email address.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account and data — from inside the app, or by request. See Delete Your Account.
- Revoke permissions — camera and location access can be withdrawn at any time in your device's system settings. Sign detection will stop working without camera access, but the app will not crash.
- Request a copy of your data — email us at dvirukthi@gmail.com.
Children
Smaraksh is intended for drivers and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
Safety notice
Smaraksh is a driver-assistance aid. It can miss signs, misread signs, or report signs that are not there. It is not a substitute for attentive driving and does not replace your obligation to observe road signs and traffic law. Do not interact with your phone while driving.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Smaraksh handles your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes will also be announced in the app.
